As we do things differently; rtPanel.com is running on default rtPanel theme itself.

They are located in nearby buildings separated by small distance. But this small distance between the two buildings covers victorious and memorable journey for more than 35 rtCampers! It is reminder of their hard-work and dedication with which they served our clients & WordPress community. Without a doubt, we will continue down this path in future…

With second office, rtFamily will soon cross a headcount of 50 members.

In the future, we will add third, fourth and more offices to rtCampus. But nothing can beat the joy of reaching this milestone of ‘second’ office. This ‘second’ number is special. The journey from ‘one’ to ‘two’ has been a long one (almost 2 years) with many ups and downs, but I guess that is what makes this ‘second office’ special!

Introducing WpNginx – Our new service for high-traffic WordPress sites! is a post from rtCamp

I instantly checked our homepage, and it ranked extremely well. Usually, a layman consider our homepage “heavy” as it looks like “flash” (in their words)

Anyways, out of curiosity, I compared our homepage with one of most lightweight page on Internet – Google.com! I found we were very close in both – Yahoo’s YSlow as well as Google’s Page Speed metrics.

After less than an hour’s hard work and some more tweaking – we finally managed to beat Google in both – YSlow as well as Page Speed grades. Yeppy!

rtCamp.com beats Google.com in YSlow & Page Speed Grades! is a post from rtCamp

We deliberately left our design broken in IE6 as IE6 irritated our web-designers for years. It was kind of our revenge.

Anyway… keeping in mind user feedback we decided to spend some time today to fix our site in IE6.

If you have any IE6 around you, just open our site in IE6. For those who are lucky enough NOT to have any IE6 in their vicinity, you can check the following screenshot…

rtCamp’s New Site “works” in IE6 now! :D is a post from rtCamp

After more than 6 months hard-work (in chunks, of-course), rtCampers together managed to launch rtCamp’s new portal!

We have finished most of work sometime before, but as we have used many WordPress 3.0 feature is this new theme/portal, we had to wait till final & stable WordPress 3.0 gets released.

Till date, needless to say, this is our best work, in terms of creativity and technologies used. jQuery & CSS3 is used extensively but special care has been taken to make sure that site works well enough on pathetic browsers like IE7.

The beauty of this entire new look is that the almost entire site works even if javascript is disabled. And nothing looks ugly even if you open this site in a browser with no support for CSS3.

Above all, this new site scores Grade-A for more than 90% pages in Y-Slow tests. And for rest it scores Grade-B.

As a matter of the fact, every rtCamper contributed in someway to the new portal but there are some people whose names deserve special mention here.

The whole project could not have been complete with our graphic designer Umesh Katkar. His amazing photoshop skills helped us go through many alternative ideas and rough drafts.

Thanks to rtCampers and specially to our COO Ashish Singh, we got too many creative ideas for design of our new online home.

Then comes our senior developer and founding member Satosh Kamble. If you like flying clouds on our homepage or most of javascript in site, they are all done by Santosh.

If you are viewing this site in IE7 or Opera or any not-so-cool browser, they credit goes to Saorabh Kumar.

We have used many wordpress 3.0 features in this theme. I, Rahul Bansal, will keep credit for adding custom post-type support which we are using to manage our portfolio with some help from Pragati Sureka, our senior developer who is famous for staying up to date with WordPress world.

Finally, special thank to Nitun Lanjewar for spending time in adding content to our portfolio and Parshawa Nemi Jain for proof-reading as well as cleaning up my mistakes in entire web-sites content. It must have been frustrating for poor Nemi to read and correct my english on so many pages!

No donut for IE6 users….

Our team-mate Saorabh who took care of cross-bowser compatibility for IE7, opera and others was interested in taking some efforts to make this portal work in IE6 also. But since long time, we wanted to stop providing support for IE6.

As this is not a client project, we thought this is right time to join the revolution!

Leaving IE6 behind so feels good that we will definitely stop supporting IE6 for all our internal projects and we will try our best to pursue our friends, clients & associates to do the same.

Things to do…

Adding all great work we did over a year will take some time. So keep watching our portfolio here.

There may be some minor tweaks and a bug or two that we will find and fix over the time.

Then there are ongoing task of keeping our official blog updated and optimizing this site for search engine (SEO). We don’t care much about SEO in general but this new portal has very less text so doing some SEO will be good idea.
