BuddyPress Media Component Release

We have recently released updated version of BuddyPress Media component (Version 2.0). BuddyPress Media Component adds multimedia features to your BuddyPress based social network, so that your members can upload/share photos, videos and audio with their friends.

BuddyPress Media

Its Different from Earlier Version

Earlier version was dependent on Kaltura CE and users were required to use Kaltura Partner ID. The new updated version is independent of Kaltura and you need not have to be dependent on Kaltura to use this plugin.

The earlier version was launched in early 2010, but then being an opensource project, we could not support it for long due to budgetary constraints.

But now, in verge of being a product based company, we have taken the project in hand with a well planned roadmap.

Features

Below are the features of plugin:

  • Images and Video Support
  • Superior Performance
  • HTML5 player with fall back
  • Highly Scalable
  • No dependency on KalturaCE

Supported Media Formats

  • Images: JPEG, PNG and GIF
  • Audio: MP3 only
  • Videos: Only MP4 (H.264Codec support)

BuddyPress activities are supported by this plugin. Any media uploaded on network gets into activity feed.

What Next?

It is one of the mightiest projects at rtCamp and would be strongly supported to take it to next level. You will find the regular update cycles of the plugin to get more enriching features to it. Please see the future road-map. Your feedback and suggestions are most welcome to improve the plugin.

If you have any questions or technical difficulties, you may ask your questions on our support forum, your questions will be answered in earliest possible time.

Cheers!
