- Gabe Bullard discussed how Newspack helps small publishers improve their websites with audience development, membership, and advertising. It is seen as a kind of infrastructure that local news needs to thrive in the digital age.
- WordPress Performance Team released two plugins that help with page loading performance. The Auto-sizes for Lazy-loaded plugin lets images drip-feed with page scroll, while the Speculation Rules plugin predicts clicks and pre-renders content.
- The WordPress Themes Team is working to revamp the Theme Handbook with a focus on modern block theme development. The project aims to finish by June 2024, and they need volunteers, especially for the accessibility chapter.
- Josepha Haden Chomphosy reflected on the “2023 State of the Word” in WP Briefing Episode 69. She highlighted the releases, events, increased contributions, and the planned outreach efforts.

- OpenAI introduced a new self-serve ChatGPT Team plan. The plan offers access to advanced models like GPT-4 and DALL·E 3, and tools like Advanced Data Analysis. It also includes a dedicated workspace and admin tools for team management.
- In a recent study, code analytics firm GitClear found that use of GitHub Copilot increased code churn significantly. Code written with Copilot reduced code reuse and refactoring, hindering maintainability.
- Matt Brown from Matrix Partners shared about an emerging model called “dark software” for building SaaS and fintech services. It involves taking components from different vendors, which are assembled into full-stack offerings for specific client segments.

- WordCamp Asia 2024 shared tips for visitors, and unveiled Contributor Stories. The event will feature an elaborate list of speakers that will take place in Taipei, Taiwan from March 7-9, 2024.
- WordCamp Europe 2024 opened its registration for speakers and sponsors. The event will take place in Vienna, Austria on April 5-6, 2024.
