Even while the musings of WordCamp Colombo were still afresh, curtains were raised for WordPress enthusiasts at WordCamp Ahmedabad.

WordCamp Ahmedabad 2017 was a three-day event from the 6th–8th of October, corresponding to the Wikihow Day (Day 1), Geek Day (Day 2) and Contributor’s day (Day 3).

rtCampers Get Together

Most of the traveling rtCamp contingent arrived at the venue early on Friday (Day 1). Some rtCampers work remotely, so WordCamps are a chance for us to meet our colleagues from around the country.

Being a 3-day WordCamp meant that this was also a 3-day weekend for all of us who attended- and we sure took advantage of that, both on and off the venue ?

The WordCamp

The venue was spacious and well laid out, befitting of the scale of the event. There was enough and more space for sponsors’ desks, networking areas and impromptu discussions.

The auditorium, though large, was regularly filled with hundreds of WordPressers.

The organizers’ love for gastronomy was evident throughout the event- starting with the fact that they named the sponsorship tiers after popular Gujarati snacks. We love it when WordCamps take extra effort to serve regional snacks and cuisine. This just adds to the uniqueness and experience of each WordCamp.

Contributing to WordPress

rtCamper Rahul Bansal spoke about how contributing to the WordPress Core opens up opportunities for both agencies and developers. In our own experience as a WordPress agency, we have seen the benefits of giving back to WordPress over the years.

Attendees had a chance to put Rahul’s talk into practice on Day 3 of the WordCamp. The “day for WordPress” was dedicated to building WordPress up- whether through code, documentation, language or more.

Check out Rahul’s session slides here:

All-in-all, WCAhmedabad was a stupendous effort on part of the organizers, especially considering the scale of the event and the fact that this was their first attempt.

Our trip gave us an opportunity to relax and have fun. We even started planning for our annual rtParty 😉

આભાર અમદાવાદ, we hope to return next year 🙏
