At WordCamp US this year, our CEO, Rahul and Director of Client Delivery, Maitreyie, will be presenting a session “Immersive Journalism, Syndication & Content Analytics with WordPress: Behind the Scenes of an Award-Winning Publisher” on 19th September. The session will showcase how WordPress enables a complete content supply chain from creation, distribution to analytics for publishers, using the example of our work with Grist.

• Automattic will migrate Tumblr’s backend to WordPress.com infrastructure. It will help content sharing across both platforms, while preserving Tumblr’s unique UX. This project will probably be one of the largest CMS platform migrations online.
• The WordPress Contributor Mentorship Program is back for its third cohort, set during the final quarter of 2024. It aims to bridge the gap between experienced contributors and those new to WordPress, fostering collaboration and community connections.
• WordPress Playground now supports offline mode, allowing uninterrupted development and testing without an internet connection. Additionally, it can be installed as a Progressive Web App (PWA). 
• Jetpack AI Assistant introduced its Write Brief with AI feature on WordPress.com. It analyzes content readability, suggests simplifications and provides readability scores. This beta feature aims to enhance the content creation process.
• Rapid URL Indexer launched its WordPress plugin for automating the Google indexing process. It streamlines crawling by submitting and tracking URLs.

• GitHub released Copilot Autofix within its GHAS suite. It automatically prevents and fixes code vulnerabilities, offering explanations and automated code suggestions. This will help improve code security in repositories.
• The Open Source Initiative introduced a new definition for open-source AI. It outlines requirements for transparency, accessibility and modification of AI systems. It ensures they are open for research, use and modification by anyone.
• Elastic added AGPL as a license option for Elasticsearch and Kibana. This move addresses the confusion caused by previous license changes and allows users to choose from multiple licensing options.
• Redis released Redis 8 with advanced features, previously available only in Redis Stack, to the Redis Community Edition. This update includes support for JSON, search, and vector databases for scaling applications. 
• Gartner’s research suggests that around 30% of generative AI projects will be abandoned by 2025. The findings reflect challenges regarding poor data quality, inadequate risk management and unclear business value. Enterprises may also face difficulties in realizing tangible returns.

• WordPress Accessibility Day 2024 announced its schedule with registration opened for the event to be held on October 9 and 10.
• Matt Mullenweg will deliver his annual State of the Word address on December 16 in Tokyo, Japan. Those interested to attend the event in-person can now request for space among 300 slots available. 
• The popular Invited Speakers Program is back for WordCamp Asia 2025 and input is sought from the community. The event will be held during February 20-22 next year in Manila, Philippines.
