WordPress Staff Augmentation: How offboarding works

Whether scaling down your team or transitioning work internally, our structured offboarding process helps minimize disruptions and ensure project continuity when an engagement concludes.

How does the offboarding process work?

Our engineers follow a structured exit process to ensure a seamless transition.

Knowledge transfer

Before rolling off, engineers document ongoing tasks, pending issues, and key learnings.

Handover sessions

When required, our engineers conduct walkthroughs to onboard internal teams or new developers.

If a resource is being offboarded, there are typically two scenarios:

Access removal

We coordinate with your team to revoke credentials and permissions for team members that are no longer a part of your project/team, in accordance with recommended security compliance measures.

How do the notice and transition period work?

Our notice and transition period ensures a seamless handover with minimal disruption. Here’s what to expect.

Standard notice period

We have a two-week notice for planned roll-offs, allowing you to prepare accordingly.

Unplanned exits

In rare cases where immediate changes are necessary, we facilitate expedited transitions to mitigate impact.

Optional extensions

If you need more time for transition, we could consider short-term extensions based on availability.

What happens to ongoing tasks and responsibilities?

While offboarding, we also ensure that ongoing work remains uninterrupted:

Task reassignment

Remaining deliverables are reassigned to existing or replacement engineers.

Clear documentation

Engineers update project documentation, ensuring future contributors have all the necessary context.

Post-offboarding support

We remain available for code or logic clarifications even after an engineer rolls off.

Re-engaging past engineers

Over the years, many clients have returned to us after successful staff augmentation partnerships, requesting the same engineers. If you need a familiar resource for future projects, we prioritize re-engagement and, whenever possible, assign the same engineer to ensure continuity.
