Whitehouse.gov chose WordPress once again. High-profile government websites across the world have been using open source CMSs for a long time, including Whitehouse.gov which used Drupal from 2009 up until 2017 when it switched to WordPress. W3Techs’ Web Technologies of the Year survey data for 2020 is here. It is interesting to see Shopify surpass Google, Endurance, GoDaddy, and other major players as the Hosting Provider of the Year, but not totally surprising. WordPress is the top CMS for the 11th time in a row, now powering 39.9% of the top 10M websites. WooCommerce makes for a significant part of this number, as 18.9% of all WordPress websites use WooCommerce.
