Support and maintenance

Delays in fixes can severely impact website performance and user experience. In this comparison, we will examine how Kentico and WordPress approach support and maintenance.

Support

Kentico has a diverse documentation and FAQ guide to help you with any support related queries. For Kentico Xperience 13 the technical support and security hotfixes (Kentico resolves bugs and releases as a hotfix) will be terminated after 2026.

Depending on your Kentico implementation, 24×7 chat support services are offered for its users, especially those on higher-tier plans. These include access to a support team that can assist with technical issues and troubleshooting.

But with WordPress ecosystem, if you’re on a managed hosting service like WordPress VIP, you get access to 24×7 one-on-one support. You also get active security monitoring, automated backups, and performance optimization tools. Plus, WordPress VIP offers the tools needed for deployment and management of multisite.

With WordPress, there’s community-based support too. rtCamp also supports enterprises in their maintenance and growth initiatives with trained developers.

You can also access extensive documentation, forums, and tutorials to resolve your issues. For more information on immediate assistance, you can even turn to third-party support services or WordPress solutions providers.

Maintenance

Maintenance for Kentico involves regular updates to the core system, which includes security patches and new features.

However, these updates can sometimes require additional testing and adjustments if you’re looking at a heavily customized Kentico instance. If you have a large or enterprise setup, it’s generally going to be heavily customized. So you’ll need a lot of resources for ongoing maintenance.

WordPress users, on the other hand, benefit from straightforward maintenance processes. The platform frequently releases updates that are easy to apply directly from the admin dashboard. To be fair, customized WordPress instances, too, need maintenance. But you can access development support easily with WordPress (unlike with Kentico).
