Monthly Roundup – February 2026

Welcome to the February roundup! From enterprise migrations and performance optimizations to a new carousel system and the excitement around the WordPress 7.0 launch run-up, a lot has happened. Let’s get into the details.

We’re hearing from more publishers who are rethinking their choice of adopting ArcXP. They are concerned about cost transparency, vendor stability, and how much flexibility they’ll retain several years from now.

rtCamp’s ArcXP vs WordPress guide compares both platforms across cost, architecture, AI readiness, security, and platform control. These are infrastructure aspects impacting your roadmap for the next decade.

Two brand-new, long-awaited showcases are now live. Our work with NextGear Capital is based on performance and architecture-led modernization that led to a 20% increase in lead submissions. On a similar tangent, but still unique, our work with The Indian Express involved full site editing and assisting their internal teams to work with VIP-quality code. The Indian Express is one of India’s largest news publishers, and we are proud of our long partnership with them.

As part of our open source practice, we released Carousel Kit, a modular carousel system built on the WordPress Interactivity API. It reduces JavaScript footprints, improves INP metrics, and supports dynamic Query Loop integration. Give it a spin and let us know your feedback in the Carousel Kit repo. It only gets better with further feedback and adoption.

As for product news, GoDAM release 1.6 adds WPBakery support, card-style CTAs, audio inputs for form plugins, and many more enhancements. Learn more about using GoDAM’s WPBakery elements and applying video to WooCommerce, from product galleries to video commerce and performance insights that help drive conversions.

WordPress News Snippets

A few things from the broader WordPress world worth checking out:

  • WordPress has introduced the MCP Adapter, bridging its Abilities API to the Model Context Protocol so AI agents can securely call site actions. If you’ve been following the AI infrastructure updates heading into 7.0, this one is big.
  • WordPress VIP has released Defensive Mode, designed to improve site resilience by limiting risky actions during traffic spikes or active incidents.
  • WordPress.com continues to expand its AI capabilities with Claude integration and a native AI Assistant, embedding editor-level AI into everyday publishing workflows.
  • And the biggest news in a while: WordPress 7.0 is set for launch on April 9, 2026, with the community gearing up for the official release party. The release brings Abilities API foundations, stronger AI readiness, and performance-focused core improvements.

From around the web

Here are some developments from beyond the WordPress world that caught our attention:

  • Google Chrome has previewed WebMCP, a browser API that lets sites expose structured actions for AI agents. It enables browser-mediated interactions without brittle scraping.
  • GitHub offers Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s Codex as coding agents in public preview. It enables developers to run multiple agents without the need to switch tools.
  • Cloudflare has introduced Vinext, a Vite based frontend framework, developed in just a week using AI. It deploys natively to Cloudflare Workers with a single command.
  • Oracle has outlined a renewed strategy for MySQL, with clearer community engagement, stronger collaboration, and a more decisive approach to future product changes.
