In the wee hours of the morning here in India, WordPress 4.4 “Clifford” was released. It is named “Clifford” in honor of jazz trumpeter Clifford Brown.

The big change for most users with WordPress 4.4 is the new Twenty-Sixteen default theme.

Along with that change the really big announcement is the integration of REST API infrastructure into WordPress core. This will enable developers to build and extend RESTful APIs on top of WordPress.

You can read more about WordPress 4.4 “Clifford” at its release post.

Congratulations to Prasad Nevase, Umesh Nevase, Dipesh Kakadiya, Utkarsh Patel, Juhi Saxena, Mehul Kaklotkar and Sanket Parmar.
