What’s new in WordPress 6.8

This release introduces several enhancements across performance, editor experience, and accessibility. Speculative loading improves perceived performance by preloading pages when users hover over links. The Style Book becomes available for classic themes that support editor styles. Users can now set any image block as the featured image. Homepage and posts page can be assigned directly within the Site Editor. Zoom Out mode enables better control of styles and layout. The Query Loop blocks now offer the option to include or skip sticky posts, and passwords are now hashed with bcrypt by default. Other enhancements include better multilingual error handling and improved pattern management.
