I came across a nice post with analysis on which which platform between Blogger and WordPress can be called the Blogging platform of the year 2010 on this blog.
The post has a pretty good review about pros and cos about both the platforms along with some good points about both platform. For me the clincher in favor of WordPress was this quote in the post.
If we talk about the pinging services and blog directories, hundreds of them with RSS accept all WordPress feeds and are pinged once and always when a post is published in the WordPress blog.
