WordPress 5.9 Features
The big new update is Full Site Editing (FSE). You can edit the header, footer, archive page and all other parts of your theme by using the editor.
If you want to give Full site editing a spin, you might like to check out this free course on WordPress.org.
The new FSE compatible Twenty Twenty-Two Theme is also shipped with the new version.
Along with that, we have a host of updates on the new version from better block controls, renewed list view block and a better gallery block. For developers there are several updates but the main one would be Theme.json being available for child themes.
For a complete list of all the updates, you can read the release post.
