Campus training update – July 2024 batch
Our July 2024 WordPress training program has just wrapped up. 20 of the 27 trainees from the batch have now graduated as WordPress Software Engineers. Kudos to our training team for putting in over 1,900 hours of mentorship, and congratulations to the trainees for successfully completing the program.
As updates to the program, this year we extended the training duration from 3 to 4 months and introduced a new course to the program (Basic FSE). The additional time also allowed trainees to gain more hands-on experience with implementation. To increase proactive participation, we also successfully experimented with a points-based gamification approach.
These 20 trainees were among the 64 hires we made in 2023 from over 1,300 interviews and 72,000 registrations:
Giving back to open source—a key part of our training
At rtCamp, community contributions are a key part of every new rtCamper’s learning journey. As trainees progress through the program, they actively engage on the WordPress.org support forum—answering questions, troubleshooting issues, and writing code. This underlines the powerful symbiosis between the community and WordPress (and open source in general) for them—where their contributions directly add to WordPress while also enabling personal growth and development.
Some key milestones in our campus hiring & training journey
Back in 2022, we reshaped our recruitment strategy with initiatives like Express Campus hiring, setting the stage for such hiring at scale.
Over the last year, our campus hiring program has evolved significantly. We set ambitious hiring goals, introducing Chitragupta—our powerful algorithm designed to scale hiring efforts—and expanded our reach with Open Campus to connect with top talent across the nation.
Our success with hiring and capacity building this year has been a story in the making since some time, and we are positioned well to scale for any project and scope for enterprise needs.
We’re always hiring
We’re looking to do even more good work in the open source and the WordPress world, and we need many good people to be able to do so. If you know someone who may be a fit, let them know—we’re hiring at careers.rtcamp.com.
